This is a speech I wrote, printed in zine format.
“But what if consent were also about how you want to be treated, by others and by yourself? What if it were a path inward? A tool for connection, for self-exploration, for growth and play? What if it could teach you to be more confident? What if consent helped you determine what to let in, as much as what to keep out?”
“This is–believe it or not–the meaning of the word “consent:” con means with; sent means feel. To feel together. It’s not just about yes and no. It’s not just about preventing bad things from happening and staying out of trouble. It’s about feeling, together.”
"I honestly don't know how I ended up finding Consent Wizardry's ebooks/zines but it seems there was a 'when the student is ready, the teacher appears' type of magic even though as a Gen X, I'm a generation older than Mia. As a lifelong learner on my own healing journey, this mighty zine felt very revolutionary to me, and it adds to my own syllabus of liberation.
